Following a denunciation, a man is forced to flee the police who are looking for him for murder. In his fight to make the truth triumph, he will discover that the culprit of the crime attributed to him is none other than his best friend.

Donna Beatrice is determined to expose her husband's alleged affair with the beautiful wife of the scribe Ciampa. The woman, heedless of her own family peace and the reputation of the scribe, who tries in vain to stop her, carries out a plan that does not confirm the adultery but, on the contrary, causes a huge scandal. Ciampa finds himself "forced," finding no other solution, to kill the two alleged lovers, driven by Beatrice's "madness." It is precisely from this "madness," however, that Ciampa will find a way to free himself from dishonor and a crime committed lightly.

The historic 1984 revival performance of Il viaggio a Reims was the first time in over 150 years the opera was performed. Set in a luxurious hotel in Plombières-les-Bains, the opera follows a diverse group of aristocratic characters as they gather to celebrate the coronation of King Charles X of France. Amidst the festivities, wacky antics ensue, romantic entanglements unfold, and the characters face various comedic and dramatic challenges, showcasing Rossini's masterful blend of music, comedy, and drama.

Beatrice discovers the affair between her husband and the young wife of Ciampa, a man advanced in years and secretly resigned to that infidelity whose existence he openly denies. Beatrice, however, does not intend to do the same, on the contrary: she wants to publicly denounce that adulterous relationship.

The device is simple and impactful: It opposes excerpts from Adolf Hitler's public speeches to images that show the reality contradicting his words. There is no narration, no verbal analysis, no contextual explanation. Just a montage.
